Designed a new hat yesterday!
Written on Feb 28 2011

I needed a break from a rough week, so I designed this baby last night. WOO!  I can’t decide if I’m going to sell the hat or just the pattern or just keep it all to myself.  Haha

A handmade Christmas
Written on Dec 26 2010

As a poor college student who happens to be really good with fiber arts, I decided to knit and crochet Christmas presents for my family this year.  I worked for like… 24 hours straight and still didn’t finish my dad’s mittens, but they’ll be done soon!!

My family was very pleased with my baller gifts 8)

Apple coasters for my mom

A knitted earflap hat for Johnny

A beard hat for Mike, the shoveling king

They couldn't decide which one they liked best haha

My friend Kathleen loooves her cat Mitzi. So, for Christmas, I made Mitzi a hat to go along with her kitten mittons. And then I made a hat for Kathleen that matches

I asked my college-aged brother Johnny what he wanted me to make him for Christmas.  He said “surprise me.”

SURPRISE!

Pacman Crafts
Written on Nov 1 2010

So, last week my friend and I decided we were feeling crafty. After two hours of sifting through craft books at Barnes and Nobles, we still had no idea what we wanted to do. We then did four or five laps around Michael’s and decided to do some fuse bead art! OH SNAP! I haven’t done that since I was a little Annie.

My attention span lasted long enough to make this dolphin:

I didn't even take the time to pick out a uniform color. RANDO BONANZAAA!!!

My friend cranked out airplanes and robots and a bunch of other cool stuff.

Last night I got my dork on and made a Pacman-themed set as well as a baller Mario.

Progress

Literally the second after I took that last picture, I dropped my camera on the peg board. Fml.

EL FIN! Sitting on my fridge

I got a little carried away.

Perhaps this will be my next crafting excursion:

CROCHETED PACMAN

Obviously the above was done by a n00b. A purple ghost? Please. I could make those better.

You will like this fan page:

I just set this up for my Etsy shop where I’ll be selling things I crochet as well as the patterns for some of them.  It would be cool if you checked out my shop, too.  I’d really appreciate the support :]

I designed another new beret the other day.  This one is shorter, simpler, and yellower.  It’s a gift and will aptly be named for the recipient, but I won’t say who it is until she gets it.  No need to spoil the surprise :]

Oh hey look, I finished already

This is a bit long for people with normal hair, but if I had dreads it would be perrrrfect.  Too bad I don’t like dreads.  I’ll probably type up a pattern to put in my Etsy store with this version and a shorter version :]

Crocheting For Hipsters

Beginnings of a Beret

Beginnings of a Beret

So, I’d like to think I’m pretty good at crocheting.  I wanted a sweet beret like the ones at Urban Outfitters, but I can’t afford their gas, so I decided to just make one.

My brother was over for the weekend, and while he took a five hour nap yesterday, I got a pretty good start on this puppy (as seen on the left).

Despite the narsty lighting, it’s actually a really pretty soft green.   It’s gonna be SUPER slouchy with bobbles all over it.  I’m excited.

I think I might start designing some new crocheted hipster-wear haha.

I also started knitting some slipper sock things with suede soles I bought at Michael’s.  I’ll probably finish the beret first because it’s faster, and then continue chugging along with the shoes.

Someday, this will be a shoe.

Someday, this will be a shoe.

I looooooooove knitting and crocheting.  I know it just fuels my reputation as a grandma trapped in a teenager’s body, but whatever.  One downside to these crafts is the lack of patterns that people actually want or use.  Apparently these pattern makers feel Pierrot Hooded Capes, Jean Embellishments, and Old Skool Headbands are super hawt.  (Anyone who spells “skool” with a k is totes hip.  Obvs.)  Sick joke.  I’ve found myself spending $20+ on knitting books with one or two usable patterns.  The rest would either make me feel like a senile old woman or yarn monster.
